The journey
Vietnam on foot, by paddle, underground
This is Vietnam with its sleeves rolled up: terraced valleys walked at a farmer's pace, karst rivers threaded by kayak, and cave mouths that swallow the daylight whole. From the misted ridges of Sapa to the limestone theatre of Lan Ha Bay, every day earns its evening. Like every journey we make, it's a starting point: tell us what moves you, and we'll shape it around your family, your pace and your budget.

The route in detail
Days 1–2
Hanoi
Settle into the Old Quarter with a gentle first walk through its tangle of guild streets, then a bowl of bun cha and an early night before the mountains begin.
Days 3–5
Sapa & the Muong Hoa Valley
Trek terraced rice fields between Lao Chai and Ta Van, overnighting with a Hmong family, before climbing the shoulder of Fansipan for the wide valley views.
Days 6–8
Ha Giang Loop
Wind north to the Chinese frontier past the Quan Ba twin peaks and the vertiginous Ma Pi Leng Pass, with limestone plateaus and Sunday markets along the way.
Days 9–10
Ninh Binh & Tam Coc
Swap mountains for the 'inland Ha Long', rowing a sampan through flooded caves and cycling flat lanes to the Bich Dong pagoda tucked into the cliff.
Days 11–12
Phong Nha Caves
Enter one of the planet's great cave systems, boating into Phong Nha's echoing chambers and hiking the jungle to the river-carved Dark Cave for a swim.
Days 13–14
Lan Ha Bay
Board a private junk in the quieter waters beside Ha Long, kayaking through hidden lagoons and swimming off the deck before a final seafood dinner at anchor.
