Bangkok's Khlongs and Onward to Chiang Mai
After breakfast, transfer to Saphan Taksin Pier for a long-tail boat ride up the Chao Phraya River and into the khlongs, well off the typical tourist trail. Cruise past the Bangkok skyline, taking in glimmering skyscrapers alongside traditional teak houses and fading colonial buildings, and the iconic Wat Arun, before veering into the Thonburi khlong's intricate network of waterways. Stop to explore Wat Khun Chan and Wat Paknam, two temples rarely visited by tourists, wandering old alleys and pausing for a cold drink along the way. Continue through Khlong Bang Khuntien to Poomjai Garden, a century-old organic permaculture garden and restaurant run by a local family, who still collaborate with the nearby community to source fresh ingredients. Take a walk through the garden and relax canalside with a local signature drink. Return to the hotel with free time at leisure before transferring to the airport for your flight to Chiang Mai. Continue to the ancient, seven-spired Wat Jed Yod, then Wat Suan Dok, resting place of Chiang Mai's royal family. In the afternoon, transfer to Chiang Mai Airport for your flight to Bangkok, then continue on to Hua Hin. Overnight in Hua Hin.
