More than Angkor, though Angkor alone is worth it
Most people come to Cambodia for Angkor Wat, and rightly so. The temple complex at Siem Reap is one of the genuine wonders of the world, and no amount of prior reading quite prepares you for the scale of it. But Cambodia has a habit of surprising visitors who assume they have understood it from the itinerary.
Phnom Penh is a city in the middle of reinventing itself, and the energy of that is palpable. The riverside, the markets, the French colonial streets, and the sobering history of the Tuol Sleng museum sit alongside a restaurant and arts scene that has emerged with remarkable speed. Further afield, the coast around Kep and the remote communities of the northeast offer a version of Cambodia that most visitors never reach.
It is a country that rewards the traveller who gives it more than a few days between Vietnam and Thailand, and one that we know well enough to make the most of the time you have.
