Korea's Heritage Trail is a twelve-day journey through the country's richest concentration of history and landscape, the widest spread of destinations in the Korea collection. Begin in Seoul with Changdeokgung and Gyeongbokgung Palaces, then travel via Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress to Jeonju, the birthplace of bibimbap, for a hands-on cooking class and a stroll through its 700-house Hanok Village in hanbok. Continue through Damyang's towering bamboo forest and Gwangju's historic quarters to the green terraces of Boseong's tea plantation and the UNESCO-listed tidal wetlands of Suncheon Bay, before Yeosu and Busan's Songdo coastline. In Gyeongju, once the capital of the Silla Kingdom, hike Mount Namsan among a century of stone Buddhas and spend a night at Golgulsa, Korea's only temple built into natural stone caves, joining meditation, archery and the martial art of Sunmudo. The final days bring Andong's UNESCO-listed Hahoe Folk Village and a full day at the DMZ, the tense border between North and South Korea, before a last evening in Seoul.

Day 1
Arrival in Seoul
Arrive at Incheon International Airport for a private transfer into Seoul. Check in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Seoul.
Day 2
Seoul by Public Transportation
Meet the guide to begin at Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its elegant layout in harmony with its natural surroundings, then Bukchon, home to the hanok residences of Joseon-era aristocrats. Enjoy a traditional Korean meal, then travel to Gwanghwamun Gate for a guided exploration of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the principal royal residence of the Joseon Dynasty, once home to 330 buildings. Witness the ceremonial Changing of the Guard at 14:00, then visit the National Folk Museum within the palace grounds. Conclude the day in Insadong, a historic district of teahouses, galleries and craft shops long associated with scholars and artists. Overnight in Seoul.
Day 3
Seoul to Jeonju
Check out and depart Seoul by private car. The first stop is Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site built in the late Joseon period, symbolising the king's filial piety and ambitions for a self-sufficient city, with lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Yongin Korean Folk Village, where relocated and preserved hanok-style houses showcase Joseon-era life through workshops, performances and folk artefacts, before travelling onward to Jeonju, renowned as the birthplace of bibimbap. Arrive in the late afternoon, with the evening free to explore the town's restaurants and cafes independently. Overnight in Jeonju.

Jeonju
Meet the guide and transfer to a cooking studio in a peaceful garden setting for a hands-on cooking class, learning the secrets of Jeonju-style cuisine and preparing bibimbap with fresh, local ingredients, enjoyed at a table in the garden. Rent a hanbok and stroll the cobblestone lanes of Jeonju Hanok Village, home to over 700 traditional houses, then visit Gyeonggijeon Shrine, built in 1410 to honour King Tae-jo, founder of the Joseon Dynasty. After a break at a local cafe, return the hanbok and visit the National Intangible Heritage Center, a modern complex dedicated to preserving Korea's living traditions in folk music, crafts and performing arts. Overnight in Jeonju.
Day 5
Jeonju to Gwangju
Check out and depart by private vehicle for Damyang Bamboo Forest, or Juknokwon, a tranquil grove of towering bamboo spanning over 30,000 square metres, with a leisurely walk along its pathways. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then a short drive to the Meta-Sequoia Road, a picturesque tree-lined avenue known for its towering sequoias. Continue to Gwangju, beginning with the Sajik Tower observatory for panoramic city views, then the historic district of Yangnim-dong, home to well-preserved early 20th-century missionary houses. Visit the Lee Lee Nam Studio Gallery, showcasing contemporary digital art inspired by traditional Korean motifs, before concluding at the Gwangju Asia Culture Centre, a hub for traditional arts and performances. Overnight in Gwangju.
Day 6
Gwangju to Yeosu
Check out and depart for the Boseong Green Tea Plantation, Korea's most famous tea-growing region, walking among its terraced fields and learning about centuries-old tea cultivation practices. Continue to Naganeupseong Folk Village, a rare, still-inhabited walled village from the Joseon Dynasty, with thatched-roof houses and stone walls. After lunch at a local restaurant, visit Suncheon Bay Wetland Reserve, one of Korea's most important ecological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to tidal flats, salt marshes and reed fields that attract migratory birds. Walk the wooden boardwalks before transferring to Yeosu for the evening. Overnight in Yeosu.
Day 7
Yeosu to Busan
Check out and depart for Busan by private vehicle, with scenic glimpses of southern Korea's coastline along the way. Upon arrival, visit Jagalchi Fish Market, Korea's largest seafood market, for a seafood lunch at one of its upstairs restaurants, then walk to BIFF Square, the cultural heart of Busan's film industry. Continue to Gamcheon Culture Village, a hillside former refuge for war evacuees transformed into a vibrant neighbourhood of murals and brightly painted houses, often called the "Machu Picchu of Busan." Conclude with a scenic ride on the Songdo Cable Car, followed by a walk on the Songdo Cloud Walk and the Yonggung Suspension Bridge, both stretching out over the ocean. Overnight in Busan.
Day 8
Busan to Gyeongju
Check out and depart for Gyeongju, once the capital of the Silla Kingdom and often called an open-air museum. Begin at the UNESCO-listed Seokguram Grotto and Bulguksa Temple, admiring Seokguram's granite Buddha statue and Bulguksa's wooden halls and stone terraces, with lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit Gyeongju National Museum, home to a vast collection of Silla artefacts including golden crowns and Buddhist relics, then explore Daereungwon, or Tumuli Park, stepping inside the Cheonmachong Tomb to see its wooden chamber construction and the famed "Heavenly Horse" painting. After dinner in the city centre, walk to Woljeong Bridge and finish at Wolji Pond, a 7th-century artificial pond that once formed part of a royal garden. Overnight in Gyeongju.
Day 9
Gyeongju's Mountain and Cave Temple
After an early breakfast, depart for a half-day hike on Mount Namsan, part of Gyeongju National Park and revered as sacred during the Silla Dynasty, dotted with over 100 temple sites, 80 stone Buddha statues and 60 stone pagodas along its forested slopes. The moderately challenging trail takes around three hours. Following the descent, continue to Golgulsa Temple for an overnight temple stay, Korea's only temple built within natural stone caves, at the base of Mount Hamwol. The stay offers a rare insight into monastic life, with activities such as seated meditation, archery and Sunmudo, a dynamic Zen-rooted martial art, concluding with a vegetarian dinner in the style of traditional temple cuisine. Overnight at Golgulsa Temple.
Day 10
Gyeongju to Seoul via Andong
After the temple stay concludes, depart by private vehicle for Hahoe Folk Village near Andong, a UNESCO-listed, 16th-century clan-based settlement nestled between the Nakdong River and wooded hills, retaining its historical layout and hanok residences belonging to the Ryu clan. Explore the village's narrow pathways, Confucian schools and aristocratic homes, then transfer to Andong Station to board the KTX express train to Seoul. Upon arrival, meet the driver for a private transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Seoul.
Day 11
Seoul's Demilitarized Zone
Meet a shared transfer vehicle around 7:00 and travel to meet a DMZ specialist guide for a join-in tour to the Korean Demilitarized Zone, the historic border between North and South Korea. Explore Freedom Bridge, the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, Imjingak Park and the Dora Observatory. A passport is required for entry. Transfer back to Seoul by bus, disembarking at City Hall Station to meet a local guide for a short visit to Sungnyemun Gate, also known as Namdaemun Gate, one of the Four Great Gates of the Joseon capital and National Treasure No. 1. Continue to Namdaemun Market, a sprawling traditional market established in the early 15th century, before checking in to the hotel with the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Seoul.
