The route in detail
Day 1
Arrival Luang Prabang
Arrive in Luang Prabang, where a guide will be waiting to meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Luang Prabang is a peaceful provincial town, the spiritual capital of Laos, where traffic is light and orange-robed monks move quietly through the streets, sheltering from the sun beneath their umbrellas. This evening, transfer to L'Elephant, one of Luang Prabang's best restaurants, for dinner. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 2
Golf at Luang Prabang's Championship Course
After breakfast, transfer to the golf course, just fifteen minutes from the UNESCO-listed town centre, set along the mighty Mekong River at the foot of the mountains. This highly strategic, par-72 championship course stretches more than 7,400 yards across undulating fairways and well-protected greens, its hills and valleys overlooking the Mekong offering a memorable setting for golfers of every level. Play a full 18 holes, taking in the spectacular views over the heritage town along the way, before transferring back to the hotel. In the afternoon, unwind with an hour-long treatment combining radiant body care and revitalising face care. The rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 3
Dawn Alms-Giving and a Mekong Dinner Cruise
For early risers, witness the dawn alms-giving ceremony, as long rows of orange-robed monks leave their pagodas at sunrise and walk barefoot through the streets to collect offerings, a serene ritual at the heart of Luang Prabang's spiritual life. Return to the hotel for breakfast. At 9am, begin a half-day guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage town, starting at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, tracing the history of Laos. Continue on foot to Wat Mai, known for its golden bas-relief, and Wat Sensoukharam, with its dazzling gilded facade, finishing at Wat Xieng Thong, Luang Prabang's most revered temple, built in 1560 on the tip of the peninsula near the Mekong. In the late afternoon, board a traditional riverboat for a shared cruise on the Mekong, drifting at a leisurely pace past rural riverside life as the sun sets. A selection of traditional Lao dishes is served onboard during the return journey, arriving back in Luang Prabang around 7:30pm. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 4
Second Round and Farewell Dinner
After breakfast, return to the course for a second round of golf. Transfer back to the hotel, then unwind with a second hour-long treatment, combining a head and shoulder massage with a foot massage. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at Tangor, one of Luang Prabang's celebrated restaurants. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 5
Departure
After breakfast, relax by the pool or spend the morning browsing Luang Prabang's small streets and shops before transferring to the airport for your onward flight.
